New Scientist magazine abandons science in calling AIDS Rethinking “AIDS denial: A lethal delusion”
June 25, 2009 by: Magick Dragonfly
The “AIDS Truthers” just keep digging the hole they will be buried in deeper and deeper… Maybe some of them want to be caught so they can purge, what must be, a relentless guilt of spreading so many lies that are harming so many people.
On Monday, June 22, 2009, the magazine New Scientist published the article “AIDS denial: A lethal delusion.”
The article makes the factually inaccurate claim in its first paragraph, “ART, the antiretroviral therapy that stops HIV replicating and prevents AIDS.”
That claim is an insult to the many AIDS patients living in sub-Saharan Africa who were diagnosed with AIDS without an HIV test or any AIDS-defining disease, but solely on the basis of two major non-specific conditions including diarrhea lasting for more than a month and >10% weight loss in one month, and one minor non-specific condition including a persistent cough. Where is the evidence that ART prevents AIDS in those cases?
We invite you to read the full article and join in the discussion and make your voice heard.

Here is one well said reply to this article:
I Knew Christine Maggiore

. . . and nothing here is true. You can’t even get the dates right: Eliza Jane Scovill died in May 2005, not five years before her mother did. EJ was, by friends’ accounts, not chronically ill, not underweight, and an active and even stubborn child. “A healthy, happy kid,” said one, who stayed with the family a couple of weeks before the death, said to me. He couldn’t understand it. If AIDS causes active kids to suddenly stop breathing, then the CDC needs to redefine the warning signs of AIDS.
At least you got the date of Christine’s first HIV positive test right: 1992. Yes, that’s 16 years. So if you’re saying she died of AIDS, that’s a 16-year latency period OFF the drugs. Not bad. (By the way, Christine also had several negative and indeterminate HIV test results. This is precisely why she came to question what she was being told about these tests.)
You’ve even failed to point out the AIDS-related disease involved. Most people trying to discredit Christine have pointed to a brief case of pneumonia that she had been diagnosed with a couple of weeks prior. But for this to be AIDS, she would have had to have had it one other time in the last six months; she didn’t. Also, it was bilateral pneumonia, not PCP, as widely reported. But she couldn’t have died of pneumonia, because pneumonia deaths don’t happen quietly in sleep. Pneumonia patients on the verge of death are rushed to the emergency room with violent symptoms.
You seem to think that AIDS is whatever you conveniently need it to be. How scientific is that? AIDS has an official definition, which is vague enough in itself, as all the diseases on the list of AIDS-defining conditions exist in HIV-negative people as well.
Christine was extremely ill and weakening before she died, for at least a month. I don’t recall anyone from New Scientist calling me or her friends/family to verify any of what it wrote. I can’t tell you exactly what killed Christine Maggiore — what caused her to stop breathing and functioning at that one moment. This is still undetermined, and shouldn’t scientists be waiting for the full evidence to appear? As human beings also, we should wait for conclusive evidence before concluding horrific things about the character and ethics of Christine Maggiore.
Instead of investigating the mystery of her death, truthfully, considering all facts and the absence of them, New Scientist chooses to accuse her — and all who knew her — of carelessness, even indirect murder. This is libel in the infinite degree. I protest. Yes, I do. You cannot do that to people, in the name of this thing you call “science,” and still call yourselves decent human beings. It’s the shame of all scientists and rational thinkers that they would even be associated with that.
I hope that scientists will cancel their subscriptions and advertisers will pull their ads, because this is the worst abuse of science, not to mention journalism. Using pseudo-science and conjecture to attack an honest family and their friends — and to attack the scientists of integrity who stand up to this — is dishonorable.
Please apologize to the family of Christine Maggiore.
And this one from Celia Farber:
I Knew Christine Maggiore

I knew Christine Maggiore too, and I second and applaud what Elizabeth Ely wrote here. Exactly correct. The New Scientist has joined the new slum, has published libelous propaganda which, stunningly, has errors as early as the first line.
I understand that as we speak, there is a document that is listing and counting the errors in this “article,” that will soon be dissemniated around the world. This is a serious situation for you folks.
You invoke “dangerous” beliefs that lead to “death.”
Can we talk about Joyce Ann Hafford?
Joyce died of Nevirapine toxicity (by the admission of NIH officers revealed in internal memos via whistleblower Dr. Jonathan Fishbein) while the liars in the AIDS system told her family it was “rapidly progressed AIDS?”
This is all documented, so what are you even TRYING to do here, vis a vis the horse and the barn etc.
Did you not surmise this eruption of mass public rage would occur when you publish such poorly researched, emotionally charged swill?
Now: Where is Christine Maggiore’s autopsy and pathology report?
In the absence of this, how can anybody know what she “died of?” Please avoid loaded words like “riddled” with infections. What was the cause of death?
If I don’t know, YOU don’t know, and there should have been no story written around a void.
This is not yet known.
If it turns out NOT to be a cause of death that is listed as an AIDS defining illness, what steps will be taken to correct the record, erase the slander, and discipline the “reporter?”
What steps will be taken to make amends to Christine’s son Charlie (HIV negative, by the way) and her husband, widower, Robin? (Also HIV negative, despite about 14 years of “unprotected” sex.)
James Ribe’s long and tortured record of nailing parents for the sudden deaths of their children, AGAINST ALL CONTRARY EVIDENCE can be found at http://www.justiceforej.org/com.
An autopsy is as good or bad as the reputation of the Coroner’s office that performed it.
Christine was two days away from deposing LA County Coroner James Ribe in a lawsuit (which was settled in the family’s favor) when she suddenly died at home.
I want to see an autopsy and I want to study the reputation and history of whoever performed it, and have an independent pathology report and a panoply of second and third opinions before I would hazard even a guess about what Christine died of. (Clinically.)
IF her immune system was destroyed, and you want to call that AIDS, then be honest enough to concede that in this instance, HIV waited 16 years to cause its first opportunistic infection which caused death. IF that is what is revealed; We don’t know.
In the meantime, it would be great if you could not depart all of your OWN definitions of what AIDS is and is not as soon as an AIDS dissident dies. All you do is show that you are insecure, dishonest, and specious.
Isn’t AIDS a long illness, characterized by opportunistic infections? Isn’t HIV a necessary part of the diagnosis? (EJ was never shown to be HIV infected. In fact, her blood was never even viable for HIV testing, as it was already expired when sent, on a saturday, to Quest Labs.)
How many mothers who followed orthodox protocol “saved” their children’s lives?
There are tens of thousands of children who have died while taking ARVs.
In fact, in one state, Minneapolis, the ONLY child who was diagnosed HIV positive in the early 90s who is alive today is the ONE child whose parents took her off AZT: Lindsay Nagel.
She was taken off AZT because Peter Duesberg told her family she would die if they kept her on the drug. She is 19 years old and perfectly healthy today. All the babies whose parents obeyed (in that state, at that time,) are in the grave.
An interview with the parents of Lindsay Nagel will soon appear at http://www.thetruthbarrier.com, and they are featured in the documentary House of Numbers–http://www.houseofnumbers.com.
No wonder the media is dying hard and fast. You don’t even TRY to report reality.
We are saved by new technologies. New freedoms of information.
All you can do is what you did here; Demonstrate your poverty of thought and ethics, while the real story works itself out way beyond your reach.
Documented fact,(scanned, posted, validated in real time, or rejected) is the New Trend in Post-Media.
Imagine the possibilities.
But what will you folks do?
