Natural Health Leaders or Money Motivated Hypsters?

June 29, 2009 by: David G Collins

Eating MoneyNOTE: This message takes a turn in the middle.  I was being kind of apologetic and “understanding” when I was writing the first half.  I got pissed-off halfway through by an email I received that related to the topic.

Some people, like Mike Adams, appear to be using fear to make a profit and I have written some very critical things about him.  I still stand behind much of it.  However, I also have come to more fully realize that it is not a good idea to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I do not agree with a lot of what Mike Adams has done and is doing.  That does not mean that he is not revealing some truths.  It is also not my job to make decisions for anybody else and block information that could be very valuable to someone.  It is a form of censorship that I have been participating in and no longer wish to participate in.

I recently found that some of my articles about Mike Adams (some of the few things I have actually written myself – the more strongly I feel about something the more likely I am to write my own words about it.) were being used in discussion forums to make the point that he should not be listened to about what he has written about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett and their demise being caused, or hastened, by conventional medicine.  This disturbed me because I fully believe what he has to say about the situation and no one else appears to be saying it (or he was the first I saw anyway).

I do believe chemotherapy is more deadly than cancer.  There are much better ways to treat it.  As far as I’m concerned, there are much better, and natural ways, to treat all “dis-ease” besides conventional medicine which, in my “researched” and “experienced” opinion aught to be an absolute “last resort”.

Speaking of censorship, I am also very disturbed by the growing popularity among the natural health “stars” to create paid “members only” information websites. Implying that there is a certain level of information that everyone should have, but that there is a point where some information should only be available to those with the ability to pay for it.  What information could that possibly be?

As some things are made more “valuable” by putting a price on them or through increasing their costs, many more people are made to be less worthy because of their inability to pay for them.  The more expensive something is the more people that are cut off from it.  Most of those “things” have a high price, but very little value.  But, some things have a very high value and should NOT be given a price.

The Internet has made so much information available to the general population that was not available before, but there are those who are still finding a way to make knowledge inaccessible to the poor – the one’s most in need of this information – for the sake of a buck.  We are talking about people’s HEALTH and LIVES here folks.  Who needs this information THE most… The sick and poor!

Dr. Mercola, David Wolfe, Mike Adams, Kevin Gianni, and many others are creating/have created, what I consider “elitist”, paid, “inner circle” members only, websites and preying on the fears and egos of the public. They are excluding a lot of deserving people of “certain information” because of inability to fork over money to them.  It is, plainly and simply, a marketing strategy to make money.

Whatever happened to humility, integrity, altruism… just plain old doing the right thing just for the sake of doing the right thing?

I think it is really easy for some people, who have so much, to forget that there are so many people who have so very little – or NOTHING – who still deserve “life saving information”.  Some very seemingly innocuous things come to be very disgusting like paid, member’s only websites that contain important health information, health conferences that are only available to those with the ability to afford traveling, overpriced books, CDs, videos, seminars, supplements, organic food, etc., etc.

Should these things not exist?  I’m not saying that.  I’m saying that the same “life saving” information should be made available to EVERYONE regardless of ability to pay.

Perhaps some people should find better and more ethical ways to make money.  The coming end of the printed word on paper has caused many to be more creative in getting paid for information.  Perhaps, like technology ending the need for fossil fuels, new ways need to be created for people to profit from their work.  Money should be a luxury and not a necessity for survival.  Food, “medicine”, vital information, clean water, these should all be “given”.

Many will say that I just lack a “prosperity conscious”, a “money mindset” or that I don’t value myself enough or some such metaphysical/psycho-social musing (and then they will sell you their sure fire system for correcting that!).  Well, I have tried and tried and tried.  I keep coming back to the awful feeling I have that there is something inherently wrong with “money” (or at least our system of it) and what it does to people and what it makes them do.  It goes against every fiber of my being.

Perhaps, at one time, when people were trustworthy, ethical and caring of other people it worked, but today there are too many people without a conscious, with a desperate need to have “things” and “control” and “power”.

Money has become a religion.  People worship at the alter of the almighty dollar.  Many have become “priests” of prosperity and have people groveling at their feet for the “commandments” of creating wealth.  People flock together and discuss nothing but money like it is the most important thing in life.

Money has created powerfully greedy corporations that are, by law, considered and protected as “persons” but without the conscious or need to care for anything or anybody.  Money has created the pharmaceutical companies, HIV, GMO’s and every other life sucking activity in the world today.  I know that good things are done with money too, but they seem to be growing fewer in numbers… After all, it’s a matter of survival, right?

I have spent many years in therapy trying to “fit in” and feel “normal”.  I even allowed myself to be drugged for years so that I could “cope” with being so “different” from almost everyone around me.  I finally realized that there is something in me that will not allow me to alter my basic values.  I suffer over this because the world has been set up like a game with certain rules and behaviors and values.  Almost none of which mean anything to me.  I finally decided that there is nothing “wrong” with me and I am proud of who I am and the values I hold.  I will suffer before I sacrifice my integrity… and I do.

Sure, anybody can be rich.  Everyone has the same opportunity to succeed.  IF… If you have what it takes to devote yourself to doing it.  If you can change your values to that which society has set as “important’.

A person “needs’ only so much money and then it should be shared with those less fortunate or recycled in a way that helps those who can to crawl out of the deep holes they can find themselves in.  But, to devote yourself to nothing but the collection of money and material wealth with no end in site is, I think, a sickness created by the society in which we live. There are people in this world who could afford to feed everyone on the planet but choose not to.  I think that is sad.

It’s no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It’s a tragedy alright!  That David Wolfe is so out of touch with an extremely large portion of the population of the planet.  What a load of bullshit!  David Wolfe thinks “anyone and EVERYONE” has $97 to hand over to him?  And that is for a thirty day trial!!  What planet does he live on?   He has what he professes to be LIFE-SAVING information and he is holding it for ransom?  What a F*cking sh*thead!  No wonder Mike Adams has teamed up with him.  Disgusting!!  Absolutely disgusting!!  Especially in this economy when so many people are hurting for money.  People are trying to decide between food or medicine (and, of course, there is no financial assistance for natural therapies).  He obviously does not truly believe that “anyone and EVERYONE” deserves to have this information.  Only those people with $97 that he can convince to hand over to him…. And then the price goes up to what?

Oh and hurry oh desperate and dying ones because there are only 2000 copies available for everyone on the planet!!!!

I tried to read his long-ass SALES COPY, but I could hardly keep what little food I have in my stomach down.  I would like to see David give this sales pitch to a group of starving Africans or down at the food pantry I visit every week.

Every week I see very desperate and needy people who have to line up and get their food (what passes for food these days) from a food pantry – I am one of them – and I find this email and offer to be insulting, disgusting, cold hearted, out of touch and greedy.  From my perspective it is almost inhumane.

It’s the same as Mike Adams telling everyone how terrified they should be of the coming “flu pandemic” and that he has LIFE-SAVING information on how to survive and he’ll share it with you for a price.  According to this pitch, those who have money have a chance of surviving those without money will not survive.  How shitty is that?

How can anyone not see the evil in this?  I know these guys share a lot of information for free, but what draws the line?  When does some information become more important than other information… Well, it seems when it becomes “life-saving”.  If it’s going to save someone’s life well of course you’re gonna make ‘em pay, right?

If you were selling a work of your own creative imagination that some people might want then you deserve to get paid for it.  But, if you have information that is “life-saving” and needed by everyone then you owe it to your fellow man to share it.  Otherwise, you’re disgusting.

David Wolfe, like Oprah Winfrey and others, has lost touch with people.  People like this live in sheltered bubbles cushioned by money and surrounded by people who do nothing but prop them up and agree with everything they say.  They come to believe their own bullshit and think that anyone who does not live like them is flawed, un-evolved and in need of one of their expensive seminars, books, cds, etc…

If it is not truly “life-saving” information that is desperately “needed” by “everyone” then you are lying and scamming for a buck.  You are not saying that you have life enhancing information or helpful information.  You are saying you have “LIFE SAVING” information that you believe “EVERYONE” needs.

It probably doesn’t matter anyway because people like me, if we were able to scrape up $97 to save our lives, probably couldn’t come close to being able to afford to follow up on whatever “advice” you would offer.  Organic food is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, not too mention EXOTIC organic food, and is not affordable by the very ones who need it the most.  This is why there is so much disease among the poor.  They can only afford pesticide filled, genetically modified, processed crap food.

David do something about getting REAL food into the hands of the people who really need it instead of getting as much money into your pocket as possible and then I’ll believe you’re doing something.  Until then you are a money motivated hypster out to prey on the fears, insecurities and egos of desperate people.

David Wolfe, right now, if I saw you starving and thirsty on the street and I had some food and water… Well, you’d better have a shit load of cash on you because you’d have to pay, pay, pay.  If you didn’t have my price, well, I’m sure that a costly seminar would fix that for ya.  Or buys some books.  Can’t afford that either?  Well, I guess Nature meant for you to be culled from the heard.  That’s life.

I know.  That would never happen to you because you are special, you are elite, you are valuable and worthy and everyone should kiss your feet. David Wolfe, and all of you “Natural Health Gurus” with your paid, members only, “inner circle” websites, hawking your overpriced “health” products from your fairy tale castles in the sky, can kiss my ass!
